Default Does anyone know if an 07 computer will work in an 05

Will an 07 computer work in an 05 mustang? I'm going to be swapping a manual trans into my car and might be able to get an 07 computer. I like that idea better than trying to reprogram the current computer. I know that the engine wiring harness is different, but don't know about the computer. Thanks

Rich

Are you swapping your Auto with the OEM manual transmission, or something aftermarket?

It's just going to be the stock TR3650 trans. I wish I had enough money for the 6 speed, but I don't.

I don't know. Probably going to sell it. It's got 23K on it right now, but it's never seen the track and never been driven hard.

Wow sounds like a great big pain in the butt, are you sure it's worth all the work involved?

Yeah, it's something I've wanted to do for a long time. It's not as bad as it sounds. I have some LT's that need to be installed, so I'm just going to do it all at once. The car is sitting in storage right now so I can take my time during the install.

What are you calling the "computer"?
The PCM or the SJB?
They will both need to be from the same stang
as they are matched. Or they will need reprogramming
by a dealer so the replaced PCM recognizes the
current SJB. Big IF.

The 05s are somewhat different than the 06-08 models
electrical wise.

Why not yank out the auto trans and sell it, then use that money with what you have and buy a 6-speed?
It seems to me if you are going through the hassle why not go the whole way through.
Just a thought.
