Yea but it's not just a turbo, right? I mean what else needs to be modified or upgraded along with the turbo?

What I see is a CAI/tune is a really easy and simple bolt on and your done type performance boost. When you guys start talking turbo or FI or SC, you're also talking all kinds of other system upgrades likegears, exhaust, pulleys, etc. that have to go along with those to make it perform right....right?

CAI / Tune. Gears won't give you HP but they WILL make you faster as they multiply the torque output.

Or do what I do ... make it look how I want and who cares if I'm faster than the guy next to me who looks stock. I don't street race anyways.

CAI and tune, or just through a turbo. You have forged internals in the V6 so throw some boost at it.

Or you could[sm=nxsmile.gif]

we do?

work on a lot of weight reduction. free up the power-to-weight ratio then maximize all the hp you have more efficiently.

I have a bone stock baby V6 mustang. Beauty. Did a bunch of exterior modifications. badda bing badda boom she looks fast.

Problem is, she's not that fast. As a bone stock, she's no faster than the cute girl right next to me in the convertable (maybe a little faster because the vert IS heavier...)
Hey, no disin' the verts! Are the gears and tune going to make that much difference? Probably not.
If you were to invest in a blower you keep your gas mileage as long as you are not kicking in the boost. I feel Ford should have offered the V6 in a turbo from the factory. Aftermarket roots or twin screw supercharger would be the simplist install. Everything costs money. You can nickel and dime it, or go for broke. Best advice is to have a plan so you don't waste money on stuff you'll change later.

If you want fast don't stop at a GT, the extra 80 or 90 horses will seem nice at first but it won't be long till you're modding it to go faster. You would be better off doing a few of the mods others have suggested, starting with a decent tune and CAI and be happy driving it like that while you're saving for a GT500, Challenger or something.

Start with just an intake, tune, and a single GT takeoff muffler.

I wouldn't worry about your friend. Mod the car the way you want to in order to make yourself happy, not others.

That being said, a CAI and custom tune from any of the reputable tuners is a great way to go. If you are an auto, it'll respond nicely to the new tune, and the reduced throttle lag will be worth the money. If you haven't installed the new muffler(s) yet, then throw one of those mufflers you have already under the passenger side (or both), and it will sound better too (plus an aftermarket muffler IS PROVEN to show 7rwhp over the restrictive stock V6 muffler). I also think gears and LSD are a good mod, but you don't HAVE to change out the 3.31's when installing the LSD (coming from the guy who loves his 4.10's!).

Just remember that there will always be a car faster than yours, no matter what you drive. So be happy with whatcha have. I know there will be a few guysamazed by this statement, but a modded S197 V6 Mustang CAN be fun too.
