Yeah, that might be kinda cool also. I never thought of putting it in the center console. But, not sure how that would look.

Default RE: Engine Start Button

Newbie questtion regarding start switches/buttons. I started reading this thread thinking there was a way to put a starter button in along with a power switch that would serve as the same as turning on the key to the start position to acctivate accessories so engine can be started. That being said, It appears that you cant install a start button that operates without a key. (it you can please school me) 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 Standard is my ride.

My reason for searching this thread is this: my key switch appeared to be worn out because when I would start my car with a key and release it, it wouldspring back to the accessories mode and the car would kill. I found that it was not the key switch cause I replaced the old on with a new one and the same thing happens. The only way I can keep the car running is to stick a penny inbetween the plastic collar housing and the key switch to hold it in place so it wont go all the way back. It seems that the sping back in the key switch inside the steering collar may be worn out.

Anyone have any problems with this? I did a search and could find nothing.
