Using a Tuner wears out the engine faster?

I call BS on this too.....there is no way to tell, you can only guess......every engine is different and every person drives differently

That statement is bogus man! That's like saying "I happen to know where golden treasure is"

Those are quite bold statements, and I happen to know they are wrong.

I actually know the exact answer to your question but I'm not going to give it because you don't need to know that as your post is a concern about tuners causing a negative faster engine wear, and the answer which addresses this then is tunes are never a bad thing.
You'll probably save 6 fold on gas from a tune versus the cost of extra maintenance at 150k miles.

So his question was "overtime does it wear out the engine components reducing the life of the car overall? or does tuning optimize the car efficiently for the better?"
While I have no idea how a tune will affect HIS car, and i barely know that his engine works let alone the mileage etc, I am aware of exactly the comparative way in which most tunes change efficiency vs operating safety and that can give an exactaly average picture of what will happen to any car. Tunes both do the good of increasing efficiency and the bad of causing part wear, however it's not important to mention this specifically or the specifics of that, which would fill him in on his question.
What is important instead is to walk away with the fact that tunes are a good thing even if you slice it his way.
No one disagrees with that if we say that OP is a reasonable person in the way he slices things right?
Obviously asside from that my caveat is that i can only answer OP's question with IDEAS instead of Clairvoyance, but don't take my conclusion down with that.

I said that because of the blanket statement he made, as well as the outrageous claim that he knew the exact answer to all questions about tunes and engines. The fact is, is that some tunes are not good for your engine. Sure there are safe tunes, but there are also very dangerous tunes. So thanks fyougitive, for letting us in on your life lessons and contributing so much to this thread.

you're mad that I'm right that tunes are worth it.. even in a long run, even if that's not the most aggreable thing to say.
So his question was "overtime does it wear out the engine components thus reducing the life of the car overall? or does tuning optimize the car efficiently for the better?"

to be honest you have completely lost me.
I can summarize with yeah I'm taking very blanket approaches, BUT they are resonable because I'm assuming OP's values are of a normal person so it's not like he is not going to do normal things (he did the same blanketing in fact by specifying "tunes" instead of like brenspeed tunes).
As for knowing about HIS car, I don't. i know averages which go into creating his result. You can say that is exactly what he wants, because that is the ideal thing you could say short of running two copies of the car on a Ford test course until they break.

One sentence, what is your point.
My take is that most canned tunes aren't going to harm your car, unless you drive like an idiot most of the time (i.e. high revs, power shifts).
I think people are forgetting an essential fact here...
He whocruises consistently in4th gear at 2300rpms will wear his engine faster than the guy whocruises consistentlyin 5th gear at 1400 rpms. Regardless of tune.

Im no super car engine knowing guy but my guess is that the distance from your foot to the floorboards has more to do with engine wear than a custom tune.
the problem seems to be however that when you do get a custom tune the floorboards somehow get closer.

If you're worried about wear, then park the car and get a beater. It's like buying a great looking shirt and not wearing it because you'll have to wash it and it may fade faster. Hell, I bought the Stang so I can have fun, not worry about crap like that. If you want more longevity, buy an import.
And, IMO (as if anyone cares at this point), it's all in how hard you drive it and how well you care for it, period. We have no control whether the monkeys or the gurus were on shift when it was built.
