GT500 or FR500???????????
This is my first time hearing of it has anyone bought or built one of these. I know its kinda stupid because you could just by the GT500 but it would probally be rare.

Here's the parts list, everything else being a stock GT.
Drag Pack M-2006-FR2 $1479
Handling Pack M-2005-FR3 $1335
Whipple Supercharger Kit M-6066-M463V $5089(Why not the i/c kit, idk)
Cobra Brake Kit M-2300-S $1489
FR500C rear pads M-2200-R $205
FR500C Race Seat M-16620-R $1050
FR500C 6pt. Safety Harness M-61108-R $350
FR500C Panhard Rod Bushings M-5639-R $259
2 Piece Driveshaft loop M-5478-S197 $115
Aluminum Axle Girdle M-4033-G2 $199
Shorty Headers M-9430-S197C $559
Hi-Performance Radiator M-8005-S197 $769
X-Pipe M-5251-R $139
Exhaust Kit M-5230-5GT $529
Ford Racing Stripe M-1620001-FRBK $360
Grand total before any taxes, shipping or installation $13,926.00
Oh Yeah, Mustang GT +/- $27,000.00
There you have it a grand total of $40,926.00
Now I say scrap the $1050 race seat and spend that to upgrade to the 11psi 500hp Whipple,
Then go hunt for some GT500's. J/K
Yes I am bored with nothing to do, but I just think that would be a good performance shoot-out the Fr500 vs. GT500.
What do you guys think?

Wouldn't there be some labor involved in this? I mean, its one thing to price out all the parts but lets not forget that they have to be installed, painted, tuned, etc. I would no doubt get the GT500 and enjoy my warantee and the fact that it's a shelby and has documentation to prove it.

Anyway, all in all, with a few parts I'd add personally (Rims&tires for the upgraded brakes, Aluminum shaft, 3.73's, tri-ax, etc...), you'd be spending about $60,000 altogether for a fully warrantied, brand new GT that doesn't even have the body of the GT500 or FR500. Dunno, doesn't really seem worth it to build it like that. I'd drop the seats, graphics, replace the drag pack/handling pack with the steeda stuff, replace the exhaust package and X pipe with some flows and a bassani X w/ hi-flow cats, different harness, rear seat deleted... blah, I could go on and on...
Bottom line, I know this is a theoretical build, but it doesn't look like it stacks up to a legit GT500 that's going to eventually double and triple in value, especially when Sir Shelby passes on. That GT isn't gonna increase in value much, even with all that extra stuff. I'd have to go with the GT500, just me...

RE: GT500 or FR500???????????
I don't know... the FR500, if done right, at Ford, and properly documented, might hold its value alongside a regular GT500. With the assumed labor cost of $6,000-9,000 you'd still be in the same price range as a new GT500 with just a little markup! And you might not have to pay the $1000 gas guzzler tax if you'd bought the plain GT before adding the power parts.
