offering the the v-6 tt sounds like a really smart move BUT it wouldn't make ANY sense to remove the v8 all together. ford know that this is a enthusiast car. sure not everyone that buys one is an enthusiast but it just wouldn't make any sense to forget about all of us. i'm sure the v-6 tt will be an option but so will the v-8. even a 4 cyl, and sure this is arguable, does NOTget a huge amount of mpg more than me in my v-8 mustang getting 28 on the hwy so why would they have to get rid of it to meet a federal standard... it just doesn't make sense. there's a whole fleet of cars that they can throw 4 cyl's in to get their fleet average up. if there is demand they will supply it. even if they only made 20,000 v-8 mustangs a year they would still sell all 20,000. there are plenty of people out there who would have extra money to spend on gas that would buy it so why wouldn't they offer it???????? Also, on a side note even making the v8 mustang in low numbers still means there is a v8 mustang and that credibility alone is enough for ford to offer it. So as long as there is a mustang there is going to be a v8 rest assured even if that means in limited availabilty.

I can picture Mustang Forums now...It's bad enough with the bagging that goes on between the V6 and V8 owners. Now bring a TTV6 owner into the mix

and how teh F*&^ do you get 28mpg on our GTs??? Grannying I'm lucky to average 20mpg. God forbid I womp on it once it drops to like 17mpg before my eyes.

Unless you roll downhill both ways to your desitnation there is NO way you're getting 28mpg.

granted I'm going off the cars computer but last time I was doing some hwy driving I was doing 60 (damn new 55 mph speed limit in jersey) and i reset my computer and the whole 45min drive i got 27-28. i have the factory 3.31's too so I'm sure that helps. but really I know a lot of people that get in the mid 20's. even if my computer is wrong and i'm getting say 25 i don't think those extra few mpg are a big difference. at least not to me. to be in a v8 sports car with more that 300 hp and getting mid 20's on the highway is GREAT to me.

also, if you're getting only 20mpg if "you're lucky" on the highway either you're doing 100 everywhere you go or you must have a power adder. i do/have neither.

I bet where your friend got that from was the latest Motor Trend. It has an article in there speculating ways Ford is going to get under the 2012 CAFE requirments and lists the twin turbo 6 as an idea for the Mustang.

bring back the 2.3l 4cyl. 22city/30hwy mpg and 105hp. yeah you can get over 30mpg with all that power, thats insane. kinda hard to believe. also theres rumors of the new camaro getting a 300+ hp v6 rally option.

I have the stock 3.31 gears too but i dunno...I guess the fact I usually have O/D off doesn't help either I hate the down shift when I press on the gas so I leave the O/D off ALL the time. That and around here the Speed limit is 65 but everyone..I mean EVERYONE does 75 so that doesn't help either. I'm not complaining I just can't believe that type of mileage. Oh and my car only has 560 miles on it so I guess it still needs to be worn in to really start looking at MPG and other items.

I would have no problem with Ford replacing the V8 Mustang with a twin turbo V6.

I heard Ford is putting a V6 Twin Turbo model out that gets around 336 horses and gets around 35 miles to the gallon.. Thats impressive to me.. The V8 dieing, i don't see it.. One big reason is the F150.. Second then would be Mustang.. F150 is what really has kept Ford alive.. Both are beautiful vechs.. You can't beat either one in my opinion, best 2 on the road.. Ya never know what Ford or other company's will do.. It wouldn't surprise me that all companys try to do away with the v8 in cars.. Who knows..
