Call me old fashioned, a traditionalist, set in my ways, stubborn, etc, but I would never buy a Mustang without a V8 in it. Its just a matter of principal. I know we have the V6 and that is a fine option, but no V8 at all? No way! As much as I love the Mustang, if this is the way things are going, then I would rather see the Mustang line end on a high note, and have Ford put it to sleep, and have fond memories of what the Mustang was, thats it, period!!! Most people won't buy it.

This is not the first time we have heard this, several threads already have beaten it death. Bottom line, no one knows anything. When ford makes the anouncement, then we will know.

ORIGINAL: Grabber

Here is what you are forgetting. 5.0 4 Valve Engine. N/A with a 6Sp Transmission, the same as the Cobra. What is sucky about it? It will run 12's stock. With a power adder, right away you will be pushing close to 500WHP. and 450+ WTQ. That is an awesome Engine.
Here's an engine (very reliable)...
5.0 4 valves, N/A matted to a 6speed tranny.
415rwhp and about the same in TQ

Only one problem though...$19K[&:].

Right now, I agree with Matt.

I live in Windsor and they are going to produce a more fuel efficient V8 out of Essex engine plant. They are training the work force as we speak. I'm not sure when it comes out though or its uses.

The V8 will not die, not yet anyway. I dont want to get into any, where you got your info from but this is what I heard from great reliable source. The plan is for Ford to introduce a TTV6 sometime between 2010-2015. The TTV6's performance will be close to the GT(same tranny, rear, suspension, etc.) They model name that they are leaning toward is Mustang SVO and the line up will go as followsby price)

1. Base V6 around $20k engine size not specific(maybe 4.2) but definantly a power boost from the 4.0 maybe around 250-260hp

2. TTV6 around $26K power between 320hp-340hp

3. GT closer to $30k, sportin the 302 5.0(Boss), turning 350-360hp
Don't expect the 302 to push 390hp/tq like the saleen, because it won't be as highly tuned.
Plus, the GT has to stay below the Camaro
(ex. 99 2v vs. ls1 & 97 2v vs. lt1) JUST KIDDING!!!

The whole idea is to slowly get the public into the TTV6, they cant replace the V8 overnight because it will kill sales. They want to keep the performance close with the GT, with the price and the gas consumption of the GT being more, AND NOT WORTH IT, to help with the conversion. And the GT has to have some performance advantage, even if its just 20hp, to justify the higher price. So, that by 2020 when the CAFE standards are mandatory, all will be well. Because no matter how you slice it the TTV6 will be better on our pockets and have more potiental than the GT.
Say what you want now but, with all the modding and wanting to be faster I see on here, most of us will be going for that "SVO" over the GT when that time comes.(given the TTV6 has the potintial it should)

Until then let's make our GT's as loud and fast as we can, while we can!!!!!!!!!!
