Has anybody went with aftermarket 16" wheels on the GT? I am guessing this would give you more tire options than 17" The big question is , will they fit?

 

You will run into clearance issues with the brakes. There are toooons of tire options for 17's.

 

The GT brakes wont fit inside 16" rims.
You can degrade to V6 brakes and fit 16" rims, but why?

I have 15" wheels on my GT. They are Bogarts and they were tight, had to remove the rear sway bar. However, they do fit with the brakes.

 

one says yes...

another says no...

I upgraded my front brakes to the bigger GT brakes - I can't see any way that a 16" wheel would fit the front. It is really tight on my 17" wheel. The back end is a different story - the V6 and V8 use the same rear brake set up and the 16" wheel fits fine back there. Are you saying you have the 15" Bogarts on the front PLstang? Unless you changed the front brakes I don't see how that would have fit the front - perhaps on the rear but not the front.

16" front - won't fit
16" rear - will fit no problem

 

Same Brakes and yes I have 15" wheels on the front!
