Just goes to show...you can't keep a good thread down. Even though it was ressirected from the ashes, the premise intrigues me, so here goes:

I grew up in the 60's and fortunate enough to drive a lot of muscle cars including some nice Mustangs: Boss 302, Mach 1, 428 Cobra Jet...

I could never afford these cars, but the crowd I was in could.

When I could buy, I defected to european sports cars like Triumphs and Fiats in the 70's.

I still have a Fiat X-1/9

In the 80's I really went in another direction and bought Honda's. Started with an 84 Civic and ended with a 2002 Acura RSX-S (great car).

When it was time to replace the RSX, my wife joked about buying a Mustang saying I always talk about the cars from the 60's and she had a 65 Mustang Convert that she liked back then.

A trip to the dealer, and the rest is history. That was a year ago and I haven't regretted one moment since.

My first car, my Jetta (hated it), crapped out on me and I needed a new car. I had made a list of 5-10 cars I was interested in. New Edge GT, new Eclipse, Mazda 6, older A4, something economical like an Accord or whatever and etc and of course the S197. I fell in love with the New Edge when I was younger and was leaning towards that. I always wanted a Mustang, but wasn't set on it. Went and test drove all of them except the S197, wasn't blown away by any. Realized the older Audis are too expensive to maintain and rely on, couldn't deal with a slow as ***** inline 4 even though the interior of the Eclipse was nice etc etc. I wasn't looking for a race car, something to get me to school and back, but still had some pick up.

I was in Florida for a week and rented a '09 black 4.0 with all the options, mycolor, ambient lighting, the works. I fell in love, and knew that's exactly what I wanted. Well I didn't get the mycolor and all that sh*it, but I got what I wanted 2 months later. I strongly considered the New Edge GT, but the S197 blows it away, looks inside and out, and the 6er isn't that much slower that the 2V GT. I know this definitely isn't gonna be my last. There's a few things I'd change, but I love it nonetheless

Funny thing is I had no intentions on modding it when I bought it. That lasted as long as a Snickers in front of Rosie O'Donnell

That's funny because I traded in a 2006 RSX-S for my current Mustang. Love the Stang and never regretted my decision. After owning several 4 banger imports over the years I finally slapped my forehead and said, "WOW! I could've had a V8!" And the rest is history.

Not that I want to feed the trolls, but, if you don't like Mustangs, why are you on this site?

Who said I don't like Mustangs? Who's a troll? Guy owned many 4 poopers he said, might as well got one of the better 4 poopers vs a slow *** Mustang. Let's be real here. Evo is much cheaper to make go much faster than nearly any Mustang to date. The only competition is the Termy and new 5.zero. I'd take the Termy over the options above.

One thing made us look at Mustangs: the looks.
Secondary: kids grown up and most had leaft home, so no need for a big family car anymore

Both me and my wife have interests in classic muscle cars, including Mustangs. I never did care much for the S195s, but when the S197s came out, I really liked how they looked. So when we were shopping for a replacement car and looked at a few different cars, we decided to try a Mustang as well. It was only a V6, but we really liked it, and bought it that day. having had reliability issues with "Fix Or Repair Daily"s before, I was a little concerned about the reliability and quality, that was my only concern at the time with a Ford.

That was in 2005, and have never regretted the purchase!
