Yup, the key phrase is "a ton of work". If you are doing the fabrication yourself though the overall cost when starting with a GTthat hassome panel damage will end upbeing just a bit more thanthe cost of that GT repaired. Fitting 67-68 qtrs and fenders to the S197 rear and front facsias would be a nightmare (and not a path worth taking; not one that would interest me anyway). The only S197 styling queues would be all the glass, roofline and door handles/lock. The gas filler could possibly end up in the 67-68 rear fascia panel location which would be quite "trick". ...maybe when I retire... this is a BIG job but the result would be aS197 (67-68) stang; YIKES...wayyyyy cool. "Fastforward Fastback" indeed.

What scares you, doesn't necessarelyscare me (no offense).
The S197 door is about 53 inches long and the fastback is 49.
Also, my 06 doors are way taller. So the sides would require the most finesse as far as flowing lines.
The front is no big deal (considering) and the back will have the original tail panel (not the Shelby look) of the fastback.
That means, originalchrome bumpers etc...
The gas fillerat the rearis against the law nowadays, so that issue has to be adressed too.
This job depends on how cheap I can find a donor car...
I need to find a badly wreckedV6for no more than $2000.
A strong N/A push rod engine will find a cosy place in the engine bay.

And cobraa99, those are 71 mirrors with custom plates to fill the void left by the original ones.
Whit a keyless pad for nice touch. That's the mod virus for ya
