Default Hi-flo cats make exhaust louder?

Well all....put an xpipe on yesterday with stock cats...not very happy with sound. Did make the car noticably louder, just not really what i want. I currently have flo's 40 series, everything else stock. I know going catless would make the car scream, but i do not want to deal with street legal problems....

My question....what the hell could i do to make the exhaust louder? Hi-flo cats? Get different mufflers? Would the style and type of muffler make a difference in sound quality? I need suggestions! Thanks!

because i have the xpipe on the car, do you think SLP or Stingers will make the car sound beefier? I have been youtubing it and it does sound better...just dont want to throw money away for not that much of a sound difference...

Hi-flows will make it noticably louder. if you plan on keeping the flows dontrun an X pipe..its really raspy. trust me, ive been there! Im running a bassani catted X with borlas and its sounds good, but the X is still a little too raspy for my taste...but the comp cats do make a big difference in volume!

i love the sound of the flo's, but just does not do it for me.....where can i buy hi-flows just by themselves?....already have the xpipe - so i was thinking about going with SLP's....so far youtube has steered me there!

If you want some serious sound, just run O/R X and get a set of SLP's or boomtubes and enjoy!

If you want just a set of hi-flows check out pypes! theyre inexpensive and small ( louder). but...if youve already have a bolt in X pipe and really considering slps, they sound pretty good with the stock cats and X! I used to run that setup and a buddy of mine still does...sounds good!stay clear of anO/R pipe/slp combo...waay too loud

I had a bassani catted X with my flowmasters and would say go for it. Get some highflow cats and weld them in. The car sounded AWESOME!!! it wasnt raspy like it was when I ran the O/R X (smokestang is right- sounded TERRIBLE) and it totally screamed. Also the O/R X was obnoxiously loud and the high flow cats kept it sounding nice. It sounds like you are thinking the same thing I thought-Flows sound great but you want to be heard. If so I would def reccomend the high-flow X w/ the flows. Hope this helps.
