All is done! Thank you for your help and your patience. I pulled both gromments and vacuumed out the passenger side to get the rest of the crap out. I only wanted to remove the driver side cowl so I could vacuum but I guess everything will come out better now that the gromments are gone.

Now I need a new cabin air filter and an idea on what I will do about the soaked carpet padding.

Thanks!

it's missing a few details, like what to use to remove the "screws" without breaking or stripping them...
anyone have any tips?

After cleaning them, put the gromments back. I am afraid that dirt will get in through the gromments openings.

I am lucky that I don't have electrical problem due to water. About a year ago, I noticed that after washing my car for several hours, water still dropped on the floor. After I pulled the gromments, water poured out. A lot of leaves, nuts, dust ... block the drain. From then, I check the gromments from time to time.

check my signature for the links.

I've taken mine in twice already and the problem still isn't fixed. They performed the TSB the first time. Be aware that multiple trips to the dealership isn't going to solve the problem.
