Race shifting
So I went to the track for the second time on Friday night....had a blast again. 20+ runs for $25 I think it quite the deal!
Anywho there's a 'Mustang Shootout' this summer and I think I'm going to enter, so I want to bring my best run. I've got the launch pretty much as good as it will get (<2.0s 60ft time). What I'm wondering is about the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift. If I redline it in first and shift at 6500-6700rpm second gear spins the tires and I'll get what feels like a good surge forward. Third will chirp nicely as well. If I 'short' shift to second, like at 6000-6300, the wheel spin is reduced, but it doesn't 'feel' as fast.
Is this just my imagination? Am I better off trying to shift a bit short into second to limit that spin or will I be better off taking by starting off with second gear already further into the rpm range?
And FYI my best run thus far has been a 13.66 @ 107.11 mph

well if you have run 20+ times you should be able to tell from the track times themselves, reguardless of how it feels

My experience has been shifting at 6000 gives me my best times. I seem to shift right into the powerband of the car at that RPM. I do have 4.10s so that makes a difference. If you have 3.55's you might want to shift a little higher (6200), and higher yet if you have 3.31's (6400).
