what tires

i need new tires and i cant decide what to get. id like some drag radials that well last on the street to. ive heard the nitto 555 drs arnt that great on gripand that the e/t streets dont last long on the street. id like to keep it around 500 for the pair. thanks

It can bea trade-off. The stickier and grippierthe tire, the less efficient it might be at evacuating water and less street life. Had Nittos DRs and you're right... not that good at the track but very good on wet roads andexcellent mileage (relatively). Have M&H DRs for a street tire. Used to be used at the track. Superior grip but I would not use them as an all weather regular street tire. I do because car only sees about 15 miles of street in a week at mostly below 40 mph, but still extra cautious on wet roads.

How well do those M&H work on the street? Have you tried launching the car? I'm curious because I'm interested in eventually getting some 275/50 M&H drags and they would see some usage on the street.

The more street miles you run up on DR"s, the faster the extra grip they have compared to normal street tires goes away . . . it's a rubber chemistry thing.
