Oil Question

RE: Oil Question
There's a million opinions out there. Royal Purple is fine. Amsoil is good too. In fact, even stock motorcraft oil isn't all that bad either. If you wanna go fully synth I'd choose RP or Amsoil.

RE: Oil Question
It's more important at what frequency you change your oil. The synthetic blends are good for about 5k to 7.5k miles, depending on your driving habits. Full synthetic is good for about 8k to 15k, again dependent on driving habits. A good oil filter is important, too. The Motorcraft filter is decent and a good pricebut I wouldn't go more than 5k-7.5k miles on it. The Amsoil filter is rated for 25k miles.
I've been involved in oil analysis programs and am very comfortable going 10k miles between oil/filter changes. I use Amsoil in the Stang and Mobil1 in my SUV.
Every vehicle I've driven has either been on a 3k mile oil/filter change with dino or 10k oil/filter change with full synthetic and every one of those vehicles ran over 150k miles, some well over 200k, with no burning or other oil loss.
Pick a name brand oil and decent filter and change your oil religiously at a frequency that YOU feel comfortable with. Check out info on bobtheoilguy's website. And don't let the forum members scare you into wasting your money TOO much.

RE: Oil Question
first of all how many miles do you have? Sure, you could change over to synthetic relatively early, but per Ford's reccomendation, wait a few thousand miles to let the seals seat correctly. I waited till 5K to switch over. And honestly, as long as you change it regularly, nearly any 5W-20 will be fine. Personally, I use redline 5W-20 and the motorcraft filter, because redline is overkill for a daily driver, and I like that.
