Must have been a rental maybe? Anytime I rent a mustang it has those on it. But yeah, it will look 10x better when you get rid of them.

Ford still ownes leased vehicles and they dont want door dings either.
The fishing line will never make it down to the paint level.
The 3M adhesive will prevent this.
+1 on the hair drier and a nice hot day.
Goo-Gone or Goof-Off works to remove any
remaining adhesive. Roll it off with your thumb.
Braided fishing line works 100 times better than mono-filiment.

RE: protective side molding removal
Problem is i cant remove mine, i started doing the job then realized the paints color under those things hasnt faded in same way as paint that was touched by sunlight. So basically if i remove my side moldings i will have a slightly lighter shade of satin silver as far as i can tell.
they stay on or its a new paint job on both doors wich is totally out of the question.
Test a small bit before ripping em off trust me !!! Color might be different underneath those things or at least shaded differently!
