I was thinking exactly the samething. Besides I would call it half functional. Bottom line just do what you like. Does the button work? Yes. Do I like it? yes. Have I had any issues with it? No.

What's the deal lately with everyone being so worried about something being "functional"? What's wrong with something just being cool? Let's take a look at some of the more common "mods" that people do that aren't "functional" (meaning that they actually improve something):

1. Side and/or rear louvers - not functional (unless you are actually using them to cool your brakes)
2. Hood scoops (even you shaker people) - not functional
3. Stripes - uh, nope
4. Chin spoilers, rear spoilers, etc - unless your doing some top speed runs on a race course, not functional
5. Axl back exhaust - makes it sound better, but doesn't improve anything, so it's not really functional
6. Anything you put in the interior (cup bezels, radio ****, etc)
7. Shorty antenna? Unless you call getting WORSE reception functional
8. Engine dress up items? Again, they look cool (kind of like the starter button), but aren't functional

So what's my point? Just because you think something isn't functional, doesn't mean it's not cool, or better looking or (insert adjective here). I've donejust aboutallof the "mods" above, and like every single one. As a matter of fact, I'm going to go out and buy the starter button just to add to my list of non-functional mods!

You know i may actually add this push button start to my car. Then replace my Nitrous kit with one of those show kits with the lighted purge and possibly tie them together. So while sitting in the dark at night I can reach over, turn on my key, hit my starter button and then have a light and smoke show so everyone will think I am cool. Ah and then add the flame shooters out of the tail pipe. This thread is giving me some great ideas.

I think a hand crank on the front of the car would add more than this button.

Any mod is a matter of personal preference. I've been lurking around this forum for a while and some of the mods I see really make me wonder. But then I remind myself that everybody is just trying to do their own thing and that's what's great about the Mustang. They're all different. And if we were all practical and only bought things that were really useful, we probably wouldn't have Mustangs and we definitely wouldn't spend our time writing about them in this forum.

For the record, I had an 05 Corvette with the real starter button. Trust me, it's overrated. It was very fussy. If you had your cell phone in the center cup holder, it would interfere with the fob signal. So there's a slot in the glove box you can put the fob in to start it up.

I do believe the Ford GT works as described. A key goes in the ignition and you hit the start button. In fact, the Mustang start button we're talking about here is the start button from the Ford GT. And I believe Cobras work the same. And don't a lot of eurotrash exotics also work that way? Look at it another way, without the start button, your car starts up just like a Corolla.

Good luck with that ... FLAME THROWERS ARE A PAIN IN THE @SS TO INSTALL! They make it sound so easy with the directions they sendBUT its hard on the S197 to make it work.... Trust me!

I know remote start which I assume is the real deal where you just have the key in your pocket and push the button to start is like $299 on a stock mustang . maybe if you sell your car you can tell someone this is that to bump up a price a bit ...

Then you have the backward mods...
1. Like the 20" wheels, looks cool but hurt you on power.
2. Projector lights, looks cool (for some) but you can't see sh#t with them.
3. Blacking out lights, same thing.
4. Big huge brakes at the back, looks very cool but useless (FR500C uses stock rear brakes) and what a way to p#ss your money away.
5. Another one: Big rear sway bar. Yeah, on a DD solid axle, lol.

It's all for looks, that's what we like.
