Push button start
I really wanted one when they first came out, but I decided against it. As someone who has been driving for 25+ years already, it would take me longer to "retrain" myself NOT to turn the key all the way to where it started the car then to instead only turn it partially and then lean over and hit the button. That just seems useless to me, and even for $10 it just seems silly. I'm guilty of spending money in some very "wastefull" or useless ways, but I never could justify that one. It does look cool, but I have no desire.
A guy I know has a '06 vette. Its the same as someone was saying about the Lincoln. He gets inside the car, and as long as he has the key on him (somewhere in the car), he can lean over and push a switch, which starts the car. If the mustang could be like that, I would REALLY REALLY like it. But anything else just seems silly to me.
Just my opinion.

I think it's still cool even if you have to use the key.
It's only a 2 step process
. Like a race car: 1. Ignition
2. Start
How hard is that? You lazy *****...
I think the real problem is the price of the switch assembly[8D].
The key in pocket deal is also a sweet thing...

How about ...
1. Stripes - add $1700 - $1900 (for painted) [8D]

wow it just went from barely worth the money to utter garbage. I'd rather put $100 towards either
1.Stripes
or
2.Sequential Taillights - add $30 for plug and play

NO, it wont start with the key at all ... you have to push the button

Can you still start it with the key, or do you have to push the button?

I did think the push button strat was kind of cool. Until i decided to look on Youtube and found a video. Now I could understand if one could hop in and hit the button and the car would fire up. But it just looks ignorant, dude hops in the car turns the key and then reaches over to hit the button. There is a step in there that just makes the whole process useless.
This being said I cannot fault the product but wish that they would have put the time and money into it. This pushbutton start should be about $500 and have a key fob and the electronics to allow the car to be secure and start without a key. Guess it would really suck to have a car start when your kid is in there hitting buttons. So basically this is a cheap version of a cool idea. I vote for the real deal, I would pay for it but this thing is a joke and will never be installed in my car as currently packaged.
Someone could make some money off this is they could do it the right way.

Ive seen them before, honestly whats the point?
You're spending money on something that you still have to turn the key to the ON position, then hit a button...... Why not spend the $$ on something else for the car and take a little more effort and finish turning the key over?
Plus, push button to start a mustang?
Maybe a Benz.

What's the deal lately with everyone being so worried about something being "functional"? What's wrong with something just being cool? Let's take a look at some of the more common "mods" that people do that aren't "functional" (meaning that they actually improve something):
1. Side and/or rear louvers - not functional (unless you are actually using them to cool your brakes)
2. Hood scoops (even you shaker people) - not functional
3. Stripes - uh, nope
4. Chin spoilers, rear spoilers, etc - unless your doing some top speed runs on a race course, not functional
5. Axl back exhaust - makes it sound better, but doesn't improve anything, so it's not really functional
6. Anything you put in the interior (cup bezels, radio ****, etc)
7. Shorty antenna? Unless you call getting WORSE reception functional
8. Engine dress up items? Again, they look cool (kind of like the starter button), but aren't functional
So what's my point? Just because you think something isn't functional, doesn't mean it's not cool, or better looking or (insert adjective here). I've donejust aboutallof the "mods" above, and like every single one. As a matter of fact, I'm going to go out and buy the starter button just to add to my list of non-functional mods!
