painting subwoofer box
ok so i have this home audio sub that i fried the amp on so i ripped the amp off and put it in my truck for a while, its a badass sub (8" logitech in a ported box) and doesnt take a lot of power to sound really nice (like most quality home subs) well im gonna take that sub out and put a kicker 8" L7 and i kicker zx500.1 amp, but i want to paint the box before i do this. i want to paint it black, and possibly paint some silver racing stripes on it (as i want to do to my car) but i was wonder what the best way to paint this box would be and the process as i've never painted anything before...it doesnt have to be professional but look descent...spray paint out of a can is what ill prob use but whats the best kind out there for wood?

RE: painting subwoofer box
For wood? I'd skip the spray paint and head to the painting department of a Home Depot, Lowes or
hardware store. Get yourself some primer and have them mix your paint up (if you have a color you
want to match, bring something in. Maybe a glossy latex or something. Then finish off with some poly
for a shine if you like.
If you want black, there are some black wood stains out there that would go well too, again, finish with
some poly and sanding and you can get a real nice finish.

Ok, well, I'd still use some type of primer, then paint, then a clear to make it shine. Read the labels
of the different paints to find what it's best to make it all adhere properly. Might want to even get
some really fine grain sandpaper...
