Default Tires for 20x9 razors

I am trying to help my brother pick out tires for his supercharged 05' mustang. He is putting on a set of GT500 brembo's, and has acquired some 20x9 shelby razors to go with them. We're thinking 255/35/20 on the front, but what's a good size on the back?

My rec would be 255/35 all around or get some wider wheels for the rear, so he can run something wider; maybe 10 inch wheels with 285/30.

Default RE: Tires for 20x9 razors

I have the 20x9 razors w/255/35 up front and 275/35 out back. I'm really wondering whether I should have gone 20's for performance reasons (weight/height) but when I change out my rears I'm going to try some 285/295's (whatever will fit back there). You can fit 275/35 up front too, but weight (and $$$$!) is always against you with 20's. They look killer but I would have gone 18' if I could turn back time with what I know now. You will also want to increase your gearing for the larger diameter rims or lose performance there too.

I'm hoping that 20' tires will get cheaper with the new Dodge and Chevy cars running 20-22'. Time will tell...
