No, I went from mild bolt on's to built motor and F/I with my custom tune in one weekend. the impoprtant thig to remember is it is not the software that gets you the power. It is the quality of the flash! I am confident that I could get the same numbers with other software. I just prefer the layout and options in the Sniper software.

screw it and just a get a custom tune from brenspeed or bamachips...a lot better than the other tunes

You can build a base tune with sniper SF that is super close to the tunes these guys put out! There is a guy in my area that has an upstart shop and he has tested the build your own base tunes from sniper with the Brenspeed and Bama tunes and they all three acted similar and produced close to the same power.
