I'm confused.
Is Mobil 1 synthetic or not?????

RP, along with amsoil and redline, are true synthetics, mobile 1 is not

Mobil 1 has been my choice since the stuff came out back in the seventy's. Never had an issue. Mobile one is the only oil I will use in my vehicles, from engine to rearend. I'm sure RP is a good oil too but I wonder, how much better to justify the cost?

mobil 1 WAS a true full synthetic at one time but like i said above, some time around 2006 it was reverted back... however it meets the standards to be called a synthetic... its just not and unless you have a high HP race car a true full synthetic is really just a waste, they all get dirty in the same intervals

Mobile 1 has NOT been a TRUE synthetic since ~2006, now you have a choice of RP, redline, and amsoil

All motor oils are made up of base oils and additives. In general, fully synthetic motor oils contain non-conventional, high-performance fluids. Synthetic blends usually use some non-conventional, high-performance fluids in combination with conventional oil.
To meet the demanding requirements of today's specifications (and our customers' expectations), Mobil 1® uses high-performance fluids, including polyalphaolefins (PAOs), along with a proprietary system of additives. Each Mobil 1 viscosity grade uses a unique combination of synthetic fluids and selected additives in order to tailor the viscosity grade to its specific application.

Pardon me? I'm not here to jump down anyone's throat. Perhaps you have some personal issues to resolve. Whatever the reason you have your nickers in a knot isn't my fault nor my problemand I in no way was jumping on you.
I just posted what I have found to be facts. Information you can accept or reject. Maters not to me. Not really interested in spending big money on RP or Redline because, in my opinion, I do not feel the cost is justified in a street vehicle. Mobil1 is perfectly safe in our engines as is semi-synthetics.
BTW, exactly what is "True" synthetic? PAO based? Where does PAO come from? I can tell you it is organic in origin and it too comes out of the ground.
I would like to know what people claim is a true synthetic if Mobil 1 is not by the definition a true synthetic. That's all Iwant to know. So far I have seen little factual data that tells me what a True synthetic is.
I will sort through Oil man Bob's site when I have more time.

Royal Purple for me....I saw dyno pulls which increased RWHP in most cases by an average of 8HP, these tests included engine oil, transmission fluid, and gear oil...We'll see!

Perhaps they think true synthetic oil is the oil dropped off by the aliens. But seriously, they get it out of the ground. change around a few molecules and walla, pure, 100%, out of the ground, organic, synthetic oil. It has to come from somewhere people, it has origins. Now back to the alien theory.......
