I was under the belief that this is exactly how the chins are painted on the California Special editions. Anyway, I thought of doing the same thing not for looks, but for a practical reason. It sure is easier to touch up flat black paint then it is to match color/clear after every time you rub the chin across a curb. I tried to apply a flat black decal tape across the chin, but I couldn't get it to look right because of the chin curve. I figured the decal would be easy enough to swap out after a curb battle.
