Default Installing Steering Wheel

Just purchased a IUP upgrade Steering wheel off ebay for my 2006 GT. Just wondering if anyone replaced their steering wheel, themself and or let a garage do the work(cost?) Or any Existing Post on the install.

Fairly simple. Disconnect the battery so you dont get the airbag blowing your face off. Remove the two plugs on the sides of the steering wheel and remove the bolts. The airbag would not come out until I actually picked the loose bolts out of the hole with a needle nose even though they were completely loose. Pull the airbag out and there are two wire harnesses you unplug. Now unplug the other wires for the horn etc. Then get a socket with an extension and loosen the bolt and pukk off the wheel. Oh and dont be an idiot like me I put it all back together hopped into my car to go to work and found out the wheel was not centered. So test it before you tighten it all back up. Good luck.

Let me add a couple of things. Disconnect the neg. battery terminal and I'd let it sit for maybe 20 min.. If you want to be super safe (nobody wants their face blown off), the Ford procedure also wants you to pull the airbag fuse from the pass. side kick panal.
Again, according to the procedure, you should use a NEW steering wheel bolt, they are a one time use bolt. I got one from the dealer, I think it was like $3 or something. I felt better replacing it.The steering wheel bolt torque is 41 lb/ft.Whether you do this, up to you. It's not a tough job, just be safe with that airbag. Not only will they take part of your face off, they're about $1500 to replace. Enjoy your new mod!

Not trying to scare anybody, but you never have to apologize for doing it right.
