perhaps i should mention, someone is usually in the car...not to mention...i'm in small town iowa, where people leave keys in the ignition doors unlocked over-night...never seen or heard of anyone leaving their car running getting a ticket, though....in my hometown one of the richest cats there would leave his new vette running right in the parking lot....maybe we just have better morals than you guys - you know, like not stealing - but my car is from the LA area, so it has a securtiy system, and i had to do inner city work for awhile and it was always locked and engaged....and the lights are still dumb...waste of money
Trusting people and good morals is a good thing. Learning to expect the unexpected and preparing oneself for it is a smart thing.

One other thing, Daylight running lights save lives. When Canada went that route, study after study bared out the facts that DRL's makecars more visible, not only to pedestrians, but other drivers. They save lives.Just think for a moment, had lights not been on, is there a possibilty that some idiot in a big rush might pull out in front of you? Do you really want to be the victim of some other idiots actions? Visibility does count. Why do you think it is mandatory for motorcycles to run lights at all times while riding?

sorry to hijack the thread but when this went to the trunk unlock thing i couldn't help it-ya know that Ford makes a wireless door lock unlock accessory that unlocks the trunk. Most Ford cars and trucks have this as standard, but Ford makes a wireless version, available on ebay, that also unlocks the truck. For those of us that thought it a bit too ugly on the side of the car, well then you can mount it behind the gas fill door. I love mine.
do you have a link to this?

Geeezzz....it is amazing how threads meander!

First, a car being stolen is stolen. It doesnt matter if the keys are on the dash, in the ignition or running with a sign stating "keys are in the ignition". Insurance cos will pay in any event.

Ok..back on topic.

I too am dumbfounded by the lack of an auto headlight feature. I cannot even remember the last car I had to manually turn them on. Feels pretty cheap IMO. If Ford could mod the time off feature to say 1-2 mins, I would just leave them on all the time and not mess with it.

As for the trunk release...another bonehead move IMO. WHat did that switch cost? $1.29?

There are creative solutions...but I just picked up a spare key fob on Ebay for $12 and my dealer programmed it for free. Velcroed it under the armrest and now I never have to run in to grab the keys to pop the trunk...works well and is CHEAP!

i know what you mean,i traded in my 05 f150, i really miss that option,i guess its one of those things that until you have it you wont miss it.i figured it would be on the stang when i got it but nope. i did buy a viper alarm add on piece that has a daytime/night timesensor.i have it here at the house but i have not hooked it up yet.its made just for turning the lights on/off automaticly, and one better than the f150,when i turn on the wipers it turns the lights on too,for when its raining, the f150 never did that.ill get around to hooking it up one day!!

It's not that it is hard to turn on the lights, but I have not had to turn on any headlights in any of my cars or trucks for the past 6 years until I got my Mustang. It was hard to remember, I now have automatic headlights in my 08 Mustang. It was one of the best mods I have done yet.

I used the Ford kit for the 2004 Mustang and added a relay the sends a ground signal to the smart junction box, I got this idea from another member that had done it to his car. It works great!! If you are interested, PM me and I'll get you more detailed information.

BTW: Nice car!!
