actually this is a weight transfer idea - move the battery to the trunk. Back in the day we used to get group 27F (BIG battery) trunk install kits and put near/over rear wheels and install alum intakes with tubular headers. A person could jettison about 40 lbs and transfer about 60 lbs. But that was when you needed those big batteries to turn over a 390/428. now after all that, IMO the 4.6/5.4 are MUCH better engines, light and powerful.

On race day, empty your windshield washer fluid - a gallon of water weighs 8.3 lbs. Mustang capacity is 2.1 qts. You can get rid of 4.36 lbs compared to a full washer bottle. While I'm at it - get a Bullit grill and get rid of a couple pounds of fog lights, front lic plate and bracket (drag) take off the front spoiler, rear spoiler, fake scoops and get a shorty antenna - or no antenna (more drag) and any other hoo haa not contributing to performance or adding drag at speed. Last but not least - if you are a big guy, lose a few LBs. LOL, ...get Healthy - go Faster

Guys, don't get too competitive with this now...

If you really want to compete for smallest driver, go find these guys.

Sorry about the OT post.

As an aside, we should have some sort of sticky that outlines all the possible weight reductions, if we don't have one already.

switching to boomtubes is supposedly a 16lb weight savings. i believe it, they were a lot lighter then the stock mufflers.

I think we should sticky this thread as it already contains a good amount of info on weight reduction, and much more to come as i WILL be doing weight reduction.
