Hey since your replacing "A" stud you may want to go with some stronger studs. I take it your swap to DR's?? Might be worth the time and effort.

It's hard to see the studs in this picture but they protrude through the lug nut about 1/2 an inch. We just trimmed off the end of the lug nut.

You aren't loading your lug nuts directly into the socket and then installing them, are you? That will cause cross threaded lugs pretty often.
I think the lugs are just getting worn out.. we do usually do 3-4 rotations onto the stud, then just air gun it. It could be the socket were using.

Dude. I was expecting to beat him by a car. Ive raced my friends ls1 with 340rwhp/356rwtq... and i pulled on him very well... and last night i raced a "stock" ls2 from 30-130mph and we were EVEN the WHOLE time. Closest race ive ever seen... insane. I had him from a dig tho...

I had one of my studs get cross-threaded and get jacked up too..... (grrr!)

I believe the replacement part was $4-$5 dollars? Ahh...but they got me. $40 dollars labor to replace it!!! (grrr!)

That's the way my race with an LS2 goat went too. Neck and neck. That was with 3.55 gears though. I'd like to find him again now with the 4.10's. We raced from a dig, both rolled off the line and hit it at the same time. Hit second gear together and then he hit 3rd, started to pull a bit and smile, then I hit 3rd and jumped right back neck/neck. He ran out of road on his side and let off at around 100-110 or so. Probably had me by a bumper when he let off.

Everyone says how fast the F-bodies are but my stock 01' didn't FEEL as fast as the GT. Maybe it's just the MUCH nicer ride, interior and hell, just about everything else on the GT :-)

Were you running him with the 20's on?

I trust that you are using the impact gun to snug up the lug nuts and then going over them with a torque wrench set to spec? Or at least using a torque stick on that impact gun? Impact guns are rough on fasteners. Especially if you use them to tighten things.

How many crossthreaded studs have you had?
As many wheels I have removed and reinstalled,
I have yet to crossthread a one. Air tools ruin
studs and lug nuts.
A torque wrench set at 98 Ft Lbs is also your friend.
McGard lug nuts. 1/2-20 threads. AutoZone.
Or Gorilla brand, they are also good.

Just this one stud has been crossthreaded. But i have crossthreaded 3 lugs. I guess air tools aren't such a great idea. They do save time though
