Cross Threaded

Hey since your replacing "A" stud you may want to go with some stronger studs. I take it your swap to DR's?? Might be worth the time and effort.
It's hard to see the studs in this picture but they protrude through the lug nut about 1/2 an inch. We just trimmed off the end of the lug nut.

If you're getting that many cross threaded lugs, then you need to hand tighten your lug nuts a few more turns before you use any tools on them. Once the lug nut is at least three or four FULL rotations onto the stud, then it's safe to finish it with the impact wrench. You aren't loading your lug nuts directly into the socket and then installing them, are you? That will cause cross threaded lugs pretty often.

LS2 GTO's are some of the fastest cars I've ran on the street. LS1 f-bodies can say what they want, an LS2 gto gave me the best run I've had. I was heading over to my GF's house tonight and a Trailblazer SS started screwing with me. I've heard how those are so badass. I had to pass my turn and head onto I-35 with him just to see what those things can do. Total rape from 55mph on several times. He kept wanting to race time after time! I felt bad raping an SUV but the LS2 is a badass engine. Felt good to rape one, even if it was in an SUV haha.

Dude. I was expecting to beat him by a car. Ive raced my friends ls1 with 340rwhp/356rwtq... and i pulled on him very well... and last night i raced a "stock" ls2 from 30-130mph and we were EVEN the WHOLE time. Closest race ive ever seen... insane. I had him from a dig tho...
Everyone says how fast the F-bodies are but my stock 01' didn't FEEL as fast as the GT. Maybe it's just the MUCH nicer ride, interior and hell, just about everything else on the GT :-)
Were you running him with the 20's on?

I trust that you are using the impact gun to snug up the lug nuts and then going over them with a torque wrench set to spec? Or at least using a torque stick on that impact gun? Impact guns are rough on fasteners. Especially if you use them to tighten things.

How many crossthreaded studs have you had?
As many wheels I have removed and reinstalled,
I have yet to crossthread a one. Air tools ruin
studs and lug nuts.
A torque wrench set at 98 Ft Lbs is also your friend.
McGard lug nuts. 1/2-20 threads. AutoZone.
Or Gorilla brand, they are also good.

Just this one stud has been crossthreaded. But i have crossthreaded 3 lugs. I guess air tools aren't such a great idea. They do save time though
