Here's a link to the video:

It's hard to see me pulling because of the angle, but you can see we even at the 60'. I ended up with 14.2 and 14.3 and he was 14.8 twice. I figured going 95 mph that's 142 feet per second and I beat him by 5 and 6 tenths. So that's at least 70'...4-5 cars i guess.

I'm sure your 3.73's changed that though.

and this is off topic, but by any chance do you have any videos of your 3.73's accelerating on your automatic? I can't find one anywhere and i'd love to see the difference.
I have 18's on mine, 3:73's and 93 race tune, I too get awesome traction, barely will spin the tires but feels like it pulls its *** off. I chirp 2nd and only when it is cool out will I chirp 3rd. HEAT KILLS these cars!!

You guys see any benefits to removing the spare? I know the weight savings will help a little bit, but I wonder is making the rear lighter will make it harder to get traction.

I take mine out and go to the track with 1/4 tank. But then again, I don't have any traction issues. If you have traction issues, you might want to leave it. You could always let some air out of the rears instead.

Chris, I just removed the rear seat, spare, and all the carpet in the back. Last time when Paul and I went I got in one really quick run before the rain...didnt get a chance to deflate the rears or let the car cool from the drive down.....and I matched my best time yet. Everything in the back weighs a good 30 lbs. Get any weight out that you can.

Plus with you having 3.73's you might have to feather the gas till you hook up. I too have those runs where i wish I had traction. My first time at the track I had a .07 R/T on my best run and I still almost spun the wheels in 2nd with stock gears....I want some weld lite racing wheels and Mickey Thompson E/T's

I think I'll pull out the spare, but Im not going as far as removing the rear seat or anything. Hopefully the weather holds up so I can get at least 2-3 runs in with time to cool down in between.

The rear seat removal take maybe 5 mins...but to each his own. If the weather permits last time I got in 10+ runs.

Chris,

This will my first run down a track also. I have a 5 spd with 4:10's but never have traction issues on the street. I hear the track can be harder to hook up on if the track hasn't been cleaned.

I was running 275/40's now I have 295/45's on 18's

Quick high jack here....should I run the 295's on the heavier chrome wheels or change to the 275's on a lighter Saleen wheel? Any thoughts guys?????

As for my launch plans...I'm going to use the "Force"

Just roll up and let it happen natural. On the street when I try to launch a certian way or really concentrate I dog it......when I just clear my mind and don't think about it....it just happens. Who knows why....

Launching on the street and strip are totally different. I have 4.10's in my '05 with KDW2's, and on the street, unless I'm trying, it's hard to get them to light up. But at the strip, it'll burn them all the way down.

You'll get a better time going to the 275s on lighter wheels, but you'll hook better with the wider and heavier wheels/tires. Use the 275s, drop the tire pressure down to about 22 and feather the clutch for the first 30 feet. Don't power shift the 1-2 with the street tires either.
