I’m not sure what Ford did on the 09 but even the engine noise is much less than the 07. Has anyone else noticed the difference in noise level?

Some thoughts on my 09 now that I’ve driven it 600 miles and stuff that is included with the 09 that were options on my 07:

1. Like the bright edges on the radio *****. Gives it a bit more of the retro look.

2. It’s great that the Sirius radio is standard and is integrated into the Shaker 500.

3. Nice that the UIP is standard, it was an extra cost on my 07.

4. The ambient lighting is OK but it’s not something I’d pay extra for.

5. The cat’s whiskers (felts) on the windows is a big improvement. The 07 window guides without the cat’s whiskers sounded like they were scratching the windows if they got wet. They didn’t scratch the windows but it sounded like heck!

6. The car seems quieter around town and on the road than the 07, as if Ford added more sound deading.

7. Although the car is quieter inside the exhaust note seems a good bit loader, but from what I can see the inside of the mufflers look the same as my 07. Not sure what this is all about and it might change when I get my 09 configs from Brenspeed next week for my Xcal II.

8. The 09 has the sub frame brace like my 07 had and like my 07 does not have any dead movement in the throttle control. Many people have complained about this but it must only be problem with the earlier cars.

9. The 09 heads have the new sparkplug with the low threads that solve the spark plug removal problem. I think this was a midyear 08 improvement and I’m glad I don’t have worry about changing the plugs now.

10. My 07 had a very slight drive line vibration around 65 MPH and so does my friend’s 07. There is no drive line vibration that I can detect on the 09.

11. Didn’t like the 45th anniversary fender logo at first but its growing on me.

12. No water leak problems yet so that is a relief.

It was very difficult to find a Brilliant Silver/ Charcoal 09 with 3:55 gears and a five speed manual, without the external appearance package so I ended up with some extra options I originally didn’t want. I ended up with the comfort group, active alarm system and HID head lights. After using them it turned out to be a great accidental decision. The comfort group in includes a passenger power seat, heated seats and an auto dimming mirror with a compass. This car came with the polished 18” wheels rather than the fan blades like I had on the 07 and after living with them for awhile I like them better than the fan blade wheels.

I’ve always thought black was the perfect color for the Mustangs because of the menacing look it adds so I wasn’t sure how I’d do with the Brilliant Silver, but after seeing it the night it arrived I really like it, especially the way is glows in the bright sunlight and at night under the street lights. The Brilliant Silver looks especially excellent with the polished 18s.

In all, I’m very happy with it and I’m glad I could spend some money with Ford to help them out. Makes you feel like a real American patriot!

Great news! Another American patriot helping out Ford! You are lucky to live in North Carolina. When I was hunting for mine, NC had all the cars with the best options.

Got my email tune config files from Brenspeed and loaded up the 93 octane file. It feels a lot stronger than the 93 octane tune on my 07! Interesting!!!!
