Driver Side Leak
On Saturday I was driving from CT to NJ through the remains of the last hurricane. It rained most of the way, some times really bad other times not at all. About an hour into the drive I felt a small drip on my left ankle. I had my foot on the foot rest on the driver’s side floor. It started with one drip, then a few consecutive drips, and then nothing for a while and then a few more later. I pulled into a rest stop to check it out and sure enough the bottom corner of the carpet was wet (not from my feet) and a little bit of water on some wires. I craned my head under there but could not see where it was coming from or what it might have run down.
I searched the forums and Google but everything comes back about the A-pillar, wheel well seals or AC filter but its always in reference specifically to the passenger side. Is the driver side subject to this same problem or should I be looking for another culprit? The reason I ask is that I can’t find anyone reporting this problem on the driver’s side.
We are supposed to get rain today so I plan on watching this closely before I run off to the dealership.

I knew about TSB 07-14-06 but I was just caught off guard when it showed up on the drivers side. My passenger side is dry at the moment. I'm not sure if its a sitting in the rain leak or a drive through the puddle leak, hope to find this out today.
A section in the TSB refers to the cowl cover panel seals possibly being compromised allowing water to run down whatever side the seal is bad. That could be the source of your issue.
Mine was an improperly sealed cowl pinch weld that was corrected with proper seam sealer. Been bone dry ever since.

One member here discovered if you unplug the plugs the trapped water will flow out. He said debris and stuff gets trapped in there causing it to fill up and leak into our cars. Look for those plugs (two of them) under the hood behind the battery on the passengers side and another on the drivers side. Be prepared for a lot of water to drain out.
THis is bad stuff. Caused big time mildew in my car, replaced all carpet and underlayment (using really great stuff from Eastwood called dynomat). Needed a pro body shop to remove the fender and fix the seam. Ford paid for all (not dynomat of course). Moral of the story do not mess with a cowl leak. I have an 07 too.
