Default Compustar Remote Start / Alarm Installed

Hey guys...so I had a local shop obtain and install a Compustar Remote Start and Alarm system in the 'Stang to hopefully keep her a bit safer through deterrence, as well as warm up those cold Winter nights to come! Works just as advertised. When I want to remote start it, I need to set it up to be remote started the next time I get in. I just put the windows up, put the clutch in, put the brakes in, put the car in neutral, put on the emergency brake, take my foot off the brakes, then turn the key to the off position (the car remains on), step out, and when I shut the door, the car turns off. It is now in Reservation Mode The next time I want to, I jut hit the remote start and VROOM VROOM!

JUST to test it, I parked in a big open area with no objects or cars around, put the e-brake on FULLY extended, put big bricks in front of each wheel. I left the car in gear, crossed my fingers and hit the remote start button....just as I hoped and just as it was supposed to, the remote displayed "ERROR" with an error code. The error code cooresponds to "Vehicle not properly left in reservation mode."

So basically there is NO POSSIBLE WAY to remote start the car in gear. If it's in gear when you get out, it would be stalling. If it's in neutral without the e-brake on, it would be rolling, and if the windows aren't FULLY up, it will not remote start the next time (so that no one can reach in an put the car in gear). Also, if the alarm is triggered by anything, it will not remote start.

Oh, and the alarm seems to work too lol. I know it's not a "sports car mod" per say, but since this car is my DD, I think it will make life a bit warmer and safer :-D I will TRY to shoot a video on my cell phone or something to demonstrate the process in the near future.

Now the question is what mod next? Quarter window louvers, clear corner turn signals, short throw shifter?

Glad to hear that the shop did the install right, and used the safety feature for the manual trans. Remote start. Most shops just bypass it, which can fail and remote start in gear. So enjoy the new alarm, try not to wake your neighbors up lol.

where did you buy the starter and how much did it cost? I want to do this mod before winter and never leave the car in gear so this sounds pretty good.

I purchased it and had it installed by a store called AutoImage. If you go to compustar's website, they list their installers. I picked a pro one as that is the unit I purchased. The cost for the one I got, with a color 2 way remote with a whole boat load of features installed was about $600 then an additional $100 for me to keep both of my keys. I could've done it for just the 600, but I would have had to give up one of the keys, which I didn't wanna do.
