I have a manual and just had a Compustar remote start / alarm system put in...you can read my thread here: https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005-2014-mustangs/484457-compustar-remote-start-alarm-installed.html

But this is how it works:
Hey guys...so I had a local shop obtain and install a Compustar Remote Start and Alarm system in the 'Stang to hopefully keep her a bit safer through deterrence, as well as warm up those cold Winter nights to come! Works just as advertised. When I want to remote start it, I need to set it up to be remote started the next time I get in. I just put the windows up, put the clutch in, put the brakes in, put the car in neutral, put on the emergency brake, take my foot off the brakes, then turn the key to the off position (the car remains on), step out, and when I shut the door, the car turns off. It is now in Reservation Mode The next time I want to, I jut hit the remote start and VROOM VROOM!

JUST to test it, I parked in a big open area with no objects or cars around, put the e-brake on FULLY extended, put big bricks in front of each wheel. I left the car in gear, crossed my fingers and hit the remote start button....just as I hoped and just as it was supposed to, the remote displayed "ERROR" with an error code. The error code cooresponds to "Vehicle not properly left in reservation mode."

So basically there is NO POSSIBLE WAY to remote start the car in gear. If it's in gear when you get out, it would be stalling. If it's in neutral without the e-brake on, it would be rolling, and if the windows aren't FULLY up, it will not remote start the next time (so that no one can reach in an put the car in gear). Also, if the alarm is triggered by anything, it will not remote start.

Everything you need to install on an auto car.

I used an Asian Wolf RS2000 remote starter. The best price I have found.

I used a clifford avantguard 5.1 w/ remote start on my manual. I did the install myself but that's because i know electrical systems very very well. I reccomend this to a skilled technician or a certified alarm professional that's been doing them for atleast 10 years. Because you don't want some hack job punk kid doing a half a$$ install on your car.

Any DEI (Directed Electronics) product would be good clifford, viper, etc.

I disagree. I think anybody can do the Mustang. It is fairly simple (remote start only, I have no experience with an aftermarket alarm) as long as your not prone to nose bleeds because you'll be upside down under the dash a lot unless you are tiny or have leprechauns to help you.

Yeah I suppose doing the Remote Start Only would be fine. But I know my entire setup had 65-80 wires. And You better know how to solder because using any type of connector is not the right way to do it.
