You must practice driving with gears. If you just tach it up and drop the clutch sure, you're going to light the tires and lose traction. With gears comes the ability to feather the gas/clutch and use them effectively. If you want to ride around on 315 DR's, that's another option.
If you don't know how to drive, then yes, 4.10's are going to make your car useless. from a stop/launch standpoint.

Do these "friends" actually own S197 Mustang GT's with 4.10 gears? If not, then their opinions are null and void since they have no basis in fact. End of discussion. Trust me, and I speak from a near daily experience for the past 3 years, once you go 4.10's, you'll wonder how you got through life without them!
