Ford can't appreciate that consumers are now looking for cars that offer greater mileage for a gallon of gas.

That's never been the Mustang's mission in life, other than ensuring that most models not be subject to a gas-guzzler penalty.

Whether there would be sustained demand for a separate smaller sporty car that gets better mpg is a different issue. Do you recall the commotion that occurred when Ford was going to replace the Mustang with the Probe? The outcome of that mess says a lot about what the Mustang needs to remain.

There are plenty of low-mileage cars out there. Do you think thats all they should build?

ok the car looks freaking amazing from an exterior point of view imo, they actually topped the S197. the interior is disappointing imo . the price is nice but I was really hoping the V6 would be pushing 250 hp , 270 torque.

But hey Ford is trying not to go bunkrupt guys. also where is this 2011 will get a new engine stuff coming from ? why would they release a new engine in the middle of a cars span.

Not enough $ to do it all at the same time?

I honestly think they are going to stick with the 4.6 until the all new design comes out in a few yrs. Then I can see a new 400+hp V8 with the new Mustang.

same reason why Chrysler did it with the Chalenger (auto only 1st year, then manual next year).... Keep people wanting the newest model I guess.

It does suck, but what can you do.

I went to cars and coffee in irvine this weekend and they had 2 GTs there. A convertable and a coupe. I must say though.....they look uglier in person. The rear makes the car look very long and the front is just hideous. Even if it did come with 400hp I still wouldn't be caught driving one. The S197 looks so much better on so many different levels. IMO
