Problems finding a GT
Honestly if I were in your shoes, I would take the one that came closest to having the options that I wanted ( if I were fine with either color ). If one is a manual and the other an auto, and I wanted a manual, that would be the one I got. Or if one had cloth and the other had leather, or whatever. You are the one that has to be happy with the choice, just weigh the options out on the cars, see which one closest matches the idea of the car you wanted. If the charcoal one is closer, don't buy the silver one then have remorse. The dealer should have no problem telling you what each car is equiped with.
As for the silver with a stripe, I have seen one with a black stripe and one with a white stripe. Both looked good ( for a silver car ).
Oh, and congratulations!

There are still GT's available if you look hard; I am in Omaha and Lithia Ford is the only local dealer out of 5 that will sell GT's at MSRP and they have 2 GT convertibles with VIN's assigned and not sold as of yesterday; I took one - a legend lime GT conv with black top and charcoal interior, iup, alarm, and locking nuts; I don't mind paying MSRP for this and if you are in the Omaha area there is one more available as well as 6 GT hardtops coming in before August; I got my VIN with a build date week of 13 June; If you want one come to Omaha quick!
sherold,
mind telling me where you ordered? I'm in the area, and that is exactly the way I want to buy! (Order an '06 GT under X-Plan). Please let me in on the secret of which area dealer is not being a jerk about this!! I'm getting total BS from the ones I've visited already. [:'(]
Thanks!

Just talked to my local dealer today. He had a guy trade his GT in with 3000 miles on it for a Ford F250. 1hr later...it was sold without the dealership doing the check on the car.
They gave the person who bought it $3000 off MSRP I believe.

Don't pay a f*ckin' dime more than $300.00 over dealer invoice. I bought my '88 GT new for $12,800.00 for these exact terms.
Lotsa johnny-come-lately Harley boys have been payin' this $5k MSRP sticker premium BS for like 5 years now. Now they're total dreamers with the reserve prices they're setting on eBayMotors tryin' to get their money back, 'cause mama's pregnant and they need a new Mini-Van.
Money paid over MSRP to some azzhole stealership is like shovelin' it into a fireplace. No motor vehcile is worth getting ripped off for.
All this price gouging goin' on, is simply the shearing of sheep. Once the hysteria burns off-things will return to normal. Just a matter of being patient and standing your ground.
For $32k, you're much better off to go for a low mileage used Vette. Vette forum owners love their cars. And they sure seemed to be screwed together than these new '05 Mustangs. As a Ford Motor Company stockholder, I'm appalled at the posts I am reading concerning the build quality of new owner's cars and their subsequent treatment by dealerships.
Your loyalty would not be misplaced if went elsewhere IMHO.

And everyone should accept nothing less than a deal you got 17 years ago. I say YOU got screwed, you should have waited and bought that car used with 2k miles on it for 5000 UNDER invoice. Anyone is a fool to buy a new car. Do you see where your "logic" leads?

You know, it amazes me that now that Ford has such a hot commodity, everyone gets so pissy that they might want to get sticker price for once. I wonder if anyone else reads the news, Ford is LOSING MONEY!! The Mustang is one small bright spot on their otherwise dreary financial picture, and it's not enough of a bright spot to get them out of the red. I don't blame them one bit for trying to take financial advantage of the Mustang's popularity, they are a business after all, as are each of the dealerships. They've had to give away enough Explorers, it's about time they had something they could actually sell.

I wonder if hd74man paid $300 over invoice for that bushel of sour grapes he has????
Hmmm... let's see: (1) a used run-of-mill Vette, or (2) a brand new 05 Mustang, the best looking car to come out of Detroit in 35 years. I guess I need to flip a coin with a blue oval on one side and a bowtie on the other. No... better yet... eeny, meeny, miney, mo...
Oh wait... I already have a car! Whew... that was close!
