people with "stock" mustangs are the majority....like most who replied to this thread, i have a wife, 2 kids, and a really nice house and cars....everything in life has to be prioritized.....if you want to spend all your extra cash on mods, go for it......some of us like to put money in vacations and other non-vehicle funds.....personally, i mod my GT because it is a hobby...i don't really care about E.T's ....yes, i have done some mods, but mainly ones you won't see...do i understand why people chose to keep their stang stock, sure....i love my GT, and i would have been happy with just an exhaust mod and maybe a gear change, but i went further because i love working on motors, and everything that is done to my stang; i did......i have never paid a labor costs, thanks to all of the forum's input and the great Taco Bill........i am proud to own an "american legend", either in stock trim or heavily moded....i applaud all the responsible college students that i have read about who have studied and achieved financial independence w/o moding their stang on the way......
2 cents,
jason

In my opinion you get what you pay for - and I want to pay for added performance and appearance! It's as simple as that. I'm not one of those "crazy responsible" types, nor am I still attached to my mother's "teet's" as someone mentioned - my hobby is my Stang! I currently don't have a wife or a kid to purchase upgrades for - so I purchase them for my Mustang (I'm laughing inside right now)!!

You've got your fair share of haters on these forums, and your fair share of supporters as well. I don't think that will ever change! Read below to see what category you put me in:

For those of you putting your kids through college and paying off the ex-wives...good for you!

For those of you spending every penny left over from each McDonald's paycheck on your Mustang...good for you!

For those of you that work hard and play hard - welcome to my world! I didn't get to the ripe age of 29 (and be completely financially secure) by working my *** off to own my dream Mustang, 2 trucks, and a motorcycle without any mods! Come on man!

You only live once man, enjoy it any way you see fit! I see fit to mod my Mustang, because it makes me happy! ...and that's all I have to say about that!!!
wow. did someone hit a nerve? from the tone of your post, I get the impression that you felt that some (or one?) of the members implied that modders are irresponsible. that's not what I got out of their replies at all.

it appears that the only thing that all of us have in common is the fact that we enjoy our mustangs. beyond that, everyone's situation is different, as are our tastes and opinions.

nothing wrong with people who choose to spend their money on their family, just as there's nothing wrong with being a confirmed bachelor, spending big bucks on big mods.

nothing wrong with believing that keeping your car stock will increase it's resale value, just as there's nothing wrong with those that say, "the hell with stock; these cars are a depreciating asset, regardless."

nothing wrong with choosing to own a mustang, even though you can't afford mods, just as there's nothing wrong with having enough liquid cash to allow you to create the ultimate super show car mustang.

nothing wrong with being extra cautious about voiding your warranty, just as there's nothing wrong with throwing caution to the wind and excepting that you have to pay to play.

mods or no mods (for whatever reason), we're all enjoying our mustangs, so let's keep things in perspective, respect each others choices and opinions and go about enjoying our cars the best way that each of us sees fit.

as far as non-modded mustangs go, I honestly don't care, but the discussion is fascinating.
