Mod schmod!

Is my car stock..yep (except for the Mustang Bullitt Strut Tower Brace I recently bought).

List of mods i would like to do:
Bama Chips C&L Street/Racer intake with SCT tuner ~$650.00
3.73 FRPP gears ~ $400 installed
Spyder Aluminum driveshaft ~ $650
MAC axle backs ~ $300 (?)
Shelby style black hood pin kit ~$100

That comes to a rough total of $2,100.00

Being married with three kids (one in college and a wife that works AND goes to college as well), a house with a pool, a dog, a cat, other hobbies (computers), vacations that involve actually leaving the state/country, gee, I don't know...priorities perhaps?

I have better things at this point to spend that amount of money on. That, and if there's a problem with something (Gears being the biggest concern) my time is expensive too. In time I will get the mods I want but for now I have more important things to spend the cash on than a depreciating asset.

Some day, those of you still sucking on your parents teet will understand. Not tryin to be a di c k but until you have other people and things you are responsible for and rely on YOU for survival or care, you won't get it.

I have (2) ex-wives, (5) kids (1 in college), so it's easy for me to keep mine bone stock. I'm broke!!

house, wife and 2 kids here. wife has no problem with mods. the stang is a family thing, we all enjoy it. you go on a normal vacation spend a couple of grand and come back with nothing, put a couple grand in your stang and you have something to show for it. whatever floats your boat.

on new mustangs it basically comes down to money...

depending on how old you mean when you say "older".....most performance cars get modified at some point - usually the ones you see driving around have just been restored back to stock, even thought they probably were modded at an earlier time

Hmmm... as of right now my car is stock, (until christmas ) and its very easy to do so, as many have said its called being broke.

I was good with my money, rarely ever spent anything i earned, money always in and out of CDs... That allowed me to pay for my half of the car. Keeping a 4.2 GPA and expecting some scholarships to college justified the other half being my graduation present.

Driving a brand new mustang at 17 is a reward in itself, as much as id love to go crazy and mod the heck out of it, I've got priorities to worry about. As soon as i find a decent job or land myself an internship in college its gonna have to wait. For now ill just be happy with my Roush louvers that im installing on christmas, and hopefully some other small body mods. Engines really gonna have to wait, can't afford to lose the warranty.

Guy on my block has a S197 V6, not sure about the year. But I think it's on a lease, which is another reason people may not do any mods at all, or at least nothing that can't be reversed or removed and either re-used or sold separately when the time comes to return the car.

My neighbor did mention getting a GT500 (shortly after I got my GT), but I'll believe the talk when I see it happen.

Very good point Norm.

Wise it is, to leave a lease car alone.
Unless you plan to buy it at the end of the term, like I did for my F150
