Trying going over the connections that Jay made when he extended harnesses etc. Maybe there is a short or bad connection.

Hey, Speedy...

The injectors that come with the kit are the 38's, i was just wondering what your were running?

I have a few more questions for you? Did you/Justin sodder your connections for the IAT sensor off the MAF sensor? If they are crimp connections then, yes one of them maybe loose. However, a loose connection will not cause the temp gauge to shot up like a rocket then come back down.

I too have thought about the thermostat being the issue. I thought that it maybe sticking then pops open once it hits the correct temp, this could be the cause. Just so you know this all changed for me once I moved the IAT sensor wires.

The IAT sensor in my car is located on the passenger side. I had previously run the wires over the cam covers and along the firewall. As you know there is a lot of heat in those areas. I had no choice in the matter, thats the way that it came. The temp gauge would go up and down all of the time once the car hit operating temp. It acted as though it was going to die as you described.

Some place the IAT sensor on the Driver side near the front which is perhaps the best place. Is yours there? Are the wires exposed or in a wiring loom?

Let me know if have any luck clearing up this issue. Just so you know there are two other that i know of with the same issue on another forum. I did contact Whipple but have not heard from them.

Nothing is going to cause the head temps to shoot up except hot heads (lol!) or a faulty cylinder head temp sensor.

try cleaning your throttle body and see if the issue clears up, that Whipple is pushing a lot more air through it now. that's a symptom for the car wanting to die on you. As for the temp gauge it could be as simple as a stepper motor in the cluster gone bad. That is really common on the 2005. Hope this helps.

Good thought, I didnt even think about the gauge cluster being messed up.
