No hes saying that 4300K/OEM Lighting, is the brightest bulb you can get. You get more light output with other temps such as 6000K/8000K/etc. But more light output doesn't equal more visibility. 4300K-5000K/OEM provides the most usable light output with HID lighting.

The amount of knowlege you have is just enough to make you dangerous but not enough to make a right choice.

There is no 55 watt system that is brighter than a 35 watt, a "55 watt" system replaces a 55 watt halogen H13 bulb in a retrofit for a car that doesn't have an HID housing and system.

Your bulb is a D3R, 35w and they don't come in anything but something like 4300k.

If you want something brighter, (but technically slightly illegal, get this bulb: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Osram...QQcmdZViewItem)

If you really want 8k HID's ( you won't be able to notice 6k so don't bother), get the Saleen HID housing and sell your headlights on ebay, you should break even. They use D1R bulbs that are available in many more colors.

I've converted my Saleen housings to D2R so that I can use the brightest possible bulbs 4100k D2S bulbs, which is a color temp you can't install stock.

Thank you for the help thats the information i needed. So basically ford puts these nice HID stock light housings, BUT they screw you and only allow you to use one type of bulb a 4300K bulb, correct?

Now if i switched to saleen housings and used a D1R bulb, would i still retain my stock ballasts? Would stock ballasts run the D1R bulbs in 8000K color?

Can i switch my fogs to run 8000K 55watt system, and use a H10 bulb? RS says they offer a bulb coating option to fix the beam pattern for the fog lights for housings where the black bulb thing isn't in there, such as the case with the fogs. So is it safe to switch fogs to HID without blinding people?

Will a D1R bulb physically fit in the housing (ie, does it have the same base, is it longer)? If so, I imagine you can use your stock housing, but you will have to buy the retrofit kit from somewhere (retrosolutions for example). This will include replacing the ballasts and the wiring.
