Question BBK CAI Filter Help?

Hi folks!

I was advised (correctly or no) to re-oil my BBK CAI filter at approximately the 30k mark - I don't live in a dusty environment, and the car doesn't get an excessive amount of daily use. Anyway, I was poking around under the hood the other day and I noticed that the blue filter itself is covered in rust - it looks like the mesh wire that covers it (the stuff resembles window screening) has rusted. I was planning on re-oiling the filter very soon, but now I'm hesitant; I don't want to dislodge all the rust and have it end up in my throttle body!

So, any advice? Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement BBK CAI filter, if possible?

Thanks!

Amsoil sells replacement filters which are non-oiled but I wasn't able to find an exact replacement for my blue Steeda filter. Also, there's a company (B&K Filters, I think) that sells both the red and blue oiled filters and also makes most of the cleaning/reoiling kits sold for our filters. Their's weren't an exact match to mine either but there was one that was closer than Amsoil's.

Rusting of the mesh sounds unusual to me. My Steeda has a mesh also and I just cleaned and reoiled mine after about 24,000 miles. I'd contact BBK and see what they say.

I thought it strange, too. I emailed BBK last week and never heard back. Today I emailed them again and i was told they would forward my question to the tech department...

Anyway, I can replace the filter with a different brand? Nuke, would you recommend the Amsoil filter? If I can get away with a non-oiled filter, I'd like to. I'm not overly concerned with the aesthetics and finding an exact match if it's not readily available.

Go to this link and choose the specifications and photos link:

https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaau.aspx

As I stated earlier, I couldn't find an exact match for my Steeda and even had their tech support on the phone.
