Shorty antenna DIY
#11
wered u get ur antenna from? i got mine from american muscle and have never had any problems, its reception is fine, and it has never bent on me, not even doing 80 on the freeway, so i dont know what kind of antenna u got. and idk about car washes, i always wash my own car, takes me about and hour to an hour and a half to do it once a week, but it helps you find new scratches and dings on ur car that u otherwise would never find.

I can tell you that the cut factory one far superior. Reception is better than the AM shorty too. If you have the stock antenna laying around try it. You got nothing to loose..

I have a 14" shorty, but I've never used it. I keep it the tool box that's in the trunk, just so I have a spare.
As for washing cars, I park in a fairly large three story garage at my apartment house. I use a KozaK cloth if I just need to remove dust, and Griot's Garage Spray-On Car Wash for other crud. I've never given the car a "traditional" wash since I bought it.

I seen a write up on this a while back but it was on a new edge mustang and it looked pretty good!! Now that i see how well yours turned out i wanna do mine too!!
I dont have a dramel tool but do you think i could just saw it off or use some cutters and then use sanding paper to smooth out the cut??

I suppose a saw would do, and the you can file it a bit. I do not thing sand paper will work unless you have lots of time in your hands. Actually come to think of it it will not work period. You need to file down a pretty small area for quite a bit for it to fit in the ball.
I would still recommend buying a dremmel. This thing is extremely useful if you do things by yourself not only on the car but around the house too. The wired version is inexpensive. Wireless with LI battery is a bit more expensive. Go to home depot.

I did mine a while back and i love it. I cut it so its level with the roof. In my opinion it looks way better then a really tall or really short one. Its probably around 14-16 inches. I used a dremel cutoff wheel to cut mine aswell, then the sanding wheel to "file" down the spiral thing that runs up the antenna so the ball would fit on. The hardest part was getting the ball off, i ended up scratching it a bit, but a little spray paint fixed that.
