Default over 300 hp with intake and mufflers???

I was on youtube yesterday and was pulling up some dyno clips and one of the "stangtv" clips was an stock mustang gt with mufflers, big dog cai with no tune, and they got over 300 hp? They said the stock dyno numbers were 282hp. That seems awful high for a stock s197. I see guys with cai, tune, full exhaust, and many other bolt ons and not hitting 300hp. Seems like their numbers are a little off.

It's possible but highly unlikely. The 300 crank HP rating may be a bit conservative for some of our cars as there are some beasts out there that have dyno'd over 270 RWHP bone stock. Although I'd be surprised at a bone stocker pushing 280 or so RWHP, it's not IMpossible. But a CAI w/o a tune won't gain you much. The "full exhaust" could be LT's and with the right conditons, 300 + RWHP could be seen w/o too much effort but only on a very, very small percentage of our Stangs.

I can't see how someone could not hit 300+rwhp with intake, full exhaust (even shorties) and a tune.. not to mention other mods.. unless they are at high elevation, hot temps, and its not corrected for that. or the tune is just horrible.

I'm guessing this dyno in question is reading atleast 10hp high.

The OP specifed a non-tuned CAI. Strike about 15-20 RWHP or more from the equation and you see where it'd have to be a beast from the factory (ASSUMING the dyno #'s are accurate).

the part that will have the biggest impact is the baseline hp numbers for the stock GT. add on another 10-15 hp or so and you got the final numbers. but just with those numbers w/ that intake, i dont think too many people will run out and buy those products. they will still buy the tried and true CAI/tune combos, and i would too. i pay more attention to what real world Mustang drivers say in real life numbers rather than what a commercial says about their product. after all they are selling something for a profit, and and every day geek off the street driver isn't.

I can't see that number from just those mods. I had 301rwhp with cai, 93 tune, udps, 4:10s and flowmasters. I know each Mustang has its own personality, but I have never had of that much.

possible, but unlikely, wonder what "full exhaust" it is, LT's or shorties?
