Default Kooks LT Install

Hey guys,

I am in the middle of installing my kooks lts. have a couple of questions.

a/ In order to get the driver side in, I had to unscrew temporarily the stock K member (bar) all 4 bolts. I screw them back on with the air hammer. Does any one know how much torque should I put on those? Should I be worried about alignment been affected?

b/Third bottom screw on the driver side counting from the front. How do you get that sucker in (header pipes all over the place).

I have both headers hanging right now 15 out of the 16 bolts loose.

refering to the bottom bolt. You just have to get the header as close to the block as you can push, and then thread it very carefully with your fingers. It will require a short wrench to tighten. I didnt have to unbolt my K member though during my install.

Did you unbolt the steering shaft?

Thanks for your suggestion.

Yes I did. Took the mounts off as well, but my ****ing jack maxed out and did not have enough clearance to get the header in on the driver side... needed half inch more.. (thats what she said...hahaha)

try using some wood in between the jack and the engine to lift it higher, or a phone book? my 2 cents.

I had a 2 by 4 already. The problem is not what to do next time. The headers are already in now. I just want to know if I may need alignment and what torque do the K member bolts need.

If I was you, I would send an email to BMR or CHE. Ask them the proper torque specs for the K-Member and they should be able to tell you. I cant seem to find it when I searched.

I read at a thread about CHE that it is 25-35ft/lbs.

Still does not answer if there should be any alignment concerns. If anyone knows please chime in!
