Default QUICK TUNER QUESTION

Does it matter what type of tuner you buy if you will be buying a tune for it anyway? Like if i buy a used unlocked sct or Diablo that is programmed for a ford truck or even a GM vehicle. Would I be able to buy an email tune from bama or brenspeed for my car, load it on the tuner, and then program my car with it? Just wondering cuz these things go for $100-$150 easy locally.
Thanks!

I would think it will work. Id call SCT and find out first, might be a different plug on the gm.

If you find out let me know! id love to get one for 100 instead of 200+
And local to u=local to me!

The differences are minor and, if you don't intend on making too many changes beyond what the tune does, either the SCT or Diablo will suit your needs. The only consideration regarding brand, IMO, is if you decide to get the car dynoed. In that case, you'll need the brand of tuner that the shop supports.

As far as buying used, I suggest you contact SCT, Diablo or any of the tuners (e.g. Brenspeed, Bama, etc).

The problem you will run into is Passwords. Brenspeed and Bama both enter passwords so knowone else can modify the tunes they entered. Thats beyond the window they leave for small calibrations. You will have to completely dump any info on the used tuner you buy. You would be better off buying from Brenspeed or whoever you choose.Just remember "you get what you pay for".

Yes but its not like that is hard to do. Most tuners are returned to stock before sold anyway otherwise they are still tied to the last vehicle. And the "passwords" you talk about make no difference either.

Different model vehicles have different model tuners. If you go on diablos site they have different models for 05-06 and 07+ Mustangs. So using a tuner made for a GM is probably not going to work. To be safe get a model made for your vehicle.

Unless you are getting one for under 150, its cheaper to buy 1 from Brenspeed or Bama with 3 tunes. The difference in the price isnt that much and you will not have any headaches.
