Default Tail light bulb out

So my right turn signal went into hyperdrive today while driving home so I got out to see which light was out. On the right side the middle brake/turn light is out but the normal driving light is still lit so i'm guessing it's just part of the bulb. In another thread about this I saw that Sylvania 3157LL LongLife Bulbs were recommended but I have two questions..

1. Since I'm going to be replacing one should I just replace them all now?

2. I've been wanting to get sequential tail lights so should I just go ahead and install those as well? Will that require different bulbs or will what I posted above work fine?

1. As long as you're replacing one bulb, you might as well go ahead and replace all three on that side. Of course, you could really cheap out and just switch the bad bulb with the bulb that doesn't use the second filament for the brake light/directional signal. My understanding is that all the taillight/brake light/directional signals are the same, but the innermost light isn't wired to use the second filament. So the bad bulb should work fine as the innermost light.

2. No opinion.

Another question: Why do I see so many Mustangs with burned out rear brake/directional signal bulbs?

Default broke

I had one go out after we had owned ours about 2 years. You might want to go ahead and order the little plastic locks that hold the panels in the trunk on. Seems like I broke 2 while change that bulb.

sequentials dont require different bulbs and i would just replace the burnt out ones and yes there are two filaments in each bulb. The bulbs come in pairs so wou will always have a spare if one is just burnt out. They are pretty easy to replace all you have to do is take off the back plastic cover in the trunk, unscrew the three nuts from the taillight and take the taillight housing out. The socket just twists and pulls out.

I'd only replace the bad bulb. There's no gaurantee that a new bulb will last any longer and you run the risk of infant mortality by replacing a slew of bulbs.

Sequentials use the same bulbs as stated above. You'll need to remove most of the entire back panel to get to either side to change the bulb so while you're doing it anyway, just go ahead and install the sequentials. It's a great visual mod. But it's really not that much of a pain in the azz to open the back panel again at a later date.
