A mustang is a mustang no matter the engine.

And WTF? You'd go for jap rice over a v6 mustang which has a good market of FI available?!?! Thank goodness you could afford the GT, you would have gone traitor otherwise.

The average person wouldn't even know if a Mustang had a V8 or V6. For those that do, they'll get what they want and/or can afford. I got a V6 by circumstance (my late father's car), but it still gets lots of admiring looks and compliments from people who take it for what it is....a mustang.

Personally, I'd go for a V8 in a new Mustang, but that's because some of my previous cars (73 Mach 1, 78 and 85 Firebirds) have been V8s and I love the performance and sound effects that go with it.

I don't know, I think the three cars are very comparable. All rwd sport coupes with over 300hp in the mid-to-upper 20k range. Each has elements I like and don't like and keep in mind this is going to be a daily driver. Camaro: looks the best in my opinion. I like the interior, its loaded with options since I would get the 2LT. Gets the best mileage of the 3. It does have some blind spots from what I hear and is the slowest in the quarter (just barely behind the gencoupe), but I would'nt call 5.7 to 60 slow and with I/E/H should be right up there with the stang. Plus has the highest top speed of 157. Priced around 27-28k with the college discount.
Genesis: Also looks good, very sleek (true the front needs some work though). Best looking interior of the 3 and I love the brown leather seats and gauges. Should be the best handler. Awesome warranty, but there are not a lot of different options you can get. Although I would get the GT that is loaded with everything you would need except for maybe LSD. One minus is the manual does'nt sound like the best, but the auto sounds really good (but is a 1.5k option). Should be the cheapest of the 3 as you can get them near invoice, but still should be around 27k for the auto and I don't qualify for any other discounts I believe.
Mustang: also a nice looking car. Definitely the quickest, but how much of the time do you spend flooring it anyway? I like the gauges and some of the interior, but some of it looks dated too. Best sounding motor. Mileage is worst of the 3. To get all the options I want it does gets pricey compared to the other two. But I should be able to get a-plan thru my uncle, so If I could get it for around 28k for the premium, maybe. Plus there are a lot of local dealers and Ford is doing better than GM. There are other things to consider of course like insurance, how much the dealers will work with you and what they will give for my trade-in. I would actually have to drive each of them too to find which "fits" me best.

Yeah, they do present a good puzzle. Nice to have those kind of choices. I am in the "tempted mode", but not ready to buy. A lot of the same stuff you are talking about has been going through my mind for months.

I really like the Camaro in yellow. The V6 seems like the better compromise of price, performance, and gas mileage.

Mustang GT: Grabber Blue looks awesome. I also like the slightly smaller dimensions of the Mustang and that Mustang V8 sound. It does seem to be rather expensive with the options that I would probably like though.

The Genesis just doesn't do it for me in the looks department. Then again, I haven't actually seen one on the road yet.

I don't feel the need to have to be the first on my block to get the new Camaro or Mustang and I still enjoy my current rides (alternating between them tends to keep them feeling new to me), so I'll lay low for now and continue to do my homework. I figure that every other day, I'll be leaning towards the Camaro and then the Mustang. The test drive and price may be big factors in the decision.

Good luck on your decision. It may not be easy, but no matter what you eventually choose, it's gonna be hard to lose.

Well written post man. BTW, the Genesis is a thief of the G37S...

I'd rather have a nice import than a wannabe grandpa-stang yes. I appreciate all cars but a V6 Mustang just ain't gettin' me to the church on time, sorry. Have you heard the sound of the 4.0? They really should be relegated to the rental fleet where they belong...

I have never owned a V6 Mustang. However, I have also never insulted those who do just because it isn't my cup of tea. I think you should watch the words you spew as there are several V6's that have been modified that can eat a stock GT for lunch.

Your attitude towards those that own V6's remind of the fanboys over on the Camaro5.com forum. It's either their way or it sucks.

Point taken...perhaps my verbeage could have shown the V6 owners more respect. For that I apologize. We surely don't need any more single minded ******** around here. I just feel the way I do...
