Default "limp Home".....WTF

So I finish work this morning, get in the mustang ready to leave the station and the battery is dead. What the hell? I didn't leave the lights on, the door wasn't open, what the hell caused the dead battery. None the less I used the jump pack we have at the station to get her started and notice a wrench symbol is lite up on the dash, "limp home mode". What the hell is that? I tried driving around the block just see what the deal was and it feels like I'm hauling a bus behind me.

I couple of weeks ago I had a CEL P0340. Some of the members told me it was a common thing. The cam shaft position sensor isn't getting enough juice to sensor and I need a new alternator. i didn't do much about it, cause the next time I started to the car it was off, w/o any need to reset the CEL w/ my tuner. I'm gonna say I screwed myself and should have bucked up for a new alternator.

Feel free to throw in your 2 cents and give me some advice. I'm sure some of the more outspoken members are just itching to jump in, so come on guys.
