Okay so its been a while but I guess I'll bring this thread back from the dead.

I really need new tires in the next few weeks and I really want new rims as well. Problem is, I still have no clue what I want.

So, lets look at a few things. Will I have any clearance issues with 20 x 10s?

I really don't want to create any issues with the car but I really prefer the wide, aggressive tire look.

I know I want 20s but I'm still completely lost on what to get. My car is black and I really like Konig Unknowns but they don't come in 20 x 10s...

Please throw some ideas my way...

Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, I was thinking about going with a color scheme with the rims, stripes, and seat covers. Due to this, I was also looking into rims that I could powdercoat at a later date. I wanted to go with something original if I decide to go this route so I was looking at yellow as my accent color on the black...

check with Mike over at cruizin concepts. he's supplied lots of members on here with different types of wheel & tire combinations (see link below)

http://cruizinconceptswholesale.com/...ies.asp?cat=16

let him know that you are looking for a 20" staggered set-up for you car and see what he suggests.

me personally, when it comes time for wheels & tires on my new car I'll be doing either a 20x8.5 (or 20x9) up front with a Toyo Proxe 4 255/35/20 and a 20x10 out back with a Toyo Proxe 4 295/30/20. I ran those exact tires on my last car, the car you see in my signature, and I was very happy with them.

So I was checking out the Cruizin' Concepts website and I found CS40s. Does anyone have pictures of these on black stangs (the black accented version). I think these would look pretty sick. I'm getting more and more fond of the satin on black look...

Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

lets be honest. you have a v6, you don't need 20x10s. go with 20x8.5's, put 255s all around, falken 452s, you will have more grip then you will ever need. i have this set up, and a supercharger, and getting grip is not an issue. there is no need for 285+ width in the back, unless you just want more understeer and weight.

I agree with this post. Wider tires on the rear contributes to understeer. The last thing a Mustang needs is more understeer. Heavy 20 inch tires will definitely make your car accelerate slower in a straight line and handle worse in the curves, that's just the way it is.

Whatever advantage really wide rear tires might give you in a straight line is completely negated (and then some), by the added weight of the 20 inch wheels, unless you get something really light and expensive. You don't need the extra grip of a ridiculously wider tire, then you're just adding extra weight which will slow you down more.

I'd stick with 255's all around. That way you can at least rotate them, which isn't a bad idea considering how expensive low profile 20 inch tires are. You'll still get the look you want, too.

Another thing to consider is all the trash that gets thrown onto the car by wider tires. I have Ford flaps on the rear, which do a great job of protecting the back, but in the front even my 255 throw a lot more tar, rocks, and other debris on the paint. Anyway, I'm glad I didn't go wider, otherwise the problem would be even worse.

Okay, thats the sort of response I was looking for...

Any more opinions on this issue? Just for reference purposes, I really don't plan on any major performance mods in the near future. Maybe a CAI and tune at the most. I'm 17 so I really don't need to extra power...I must admit it is nice, but at my age I prefer appearance mods before performance. So, this said, factor into the equation that my car won't have much more power than it does stock for some time to come.

Suppose I do go with 20 x 8.5s. What does everyone like better? Konig Unknowns or CS40s? Is there anything else similar that I should consider that I haven't seen yet?

Bump.

I'm looking at purchasing rims in the next week or so and I figured I would push this back to the top one last time.

I'm just looking for a few more opinions on the issues at hand (size of wheels/tires and what wheels).

Again, I appreciate all the help.

Thanks,

HT
