Even if I sold my GT for what I want that means the cost of the loan is going to be around 27 which is over what I want to be into it for.
I was investigating doing the exact same thing you are doing a few months back.

My reasoning for it was....I bought my car for 25k + ttl so say 27k. I am making payments on it, (still owe 10k) and while I am making payments, I want to modify my car and it will never get to 400+rwhp without spending 10k or so when it's all said and done with suspension mods and such too. So basically it would be like starting my car payments all over again, but have all the mods (or at least most) of the mods I want already done from the factory.

If you truly love driving, and love your mustang, I would pursue your idea of getting a GT500. It just make sense to me now that the HYPE pricing is all over with.

too bad Rip if the car is sold...hopefully it isnt yet...
Yea... but i'd rather have a fast paid of car, than a fast car i'm still making payments on. At least if something happened and money became really tight... his car would be paid for and that is 1 thing he would not have to worry about.

I did the numbers. I could afford a $520/month car payment. But I don't want to be paying that much on a car payment for nearly FIVE years. I hate payments.

My current payment is $380/month and I've been throwing $600 at it every month. That's a 5 year loan that will be paid off in almost half that amount of time.

If I go out and buy a $37,000 GT500 then I am going to be stuck paying the basic payment for almost five years. No thanks. I just don't want to do that.

I might have to dump 10 grand into this GT to get it where I want to. But while I'm doing that the car itself will be paid for. Noone can come repo it from me if I lose my job. I won't have that kind of security if I take on that huge loan with the shelby.

If that one that was listed for $33,500 is sold then I won't be doing this. Besides, I am diametrically opposed to going into a dealer and giving them asking price on a car. And that's what these dealers want for those shelbys listed at 37. **** no.

Now if some forum member here feels charitable and wants to throw $4000 my way I will name my first born child after you. Deal?

What if they required that you name them after their Mustang Forum screenname?

that's a good and very valid point. Have to know how much you can afford for sure..as the op pointed out earlier due to this cars price of 33k if he had 10k he would take on a note of 24-25k after taxes etc... So he would be in a huge positive equity situation.. Worse case scenario he could sell the car and still have cash to spare ..... So if this deal was still available it would be worth it.. Then again I only say this as I did exactly as you speak... I decided to keep my 05gt at first did all the supercharger stuff and really built it the way I wanted.... However in my case I just was still not satisfied..so I sold it and went with the gt500.... But to each his own..... Good luck either way

I have a potential buyer for the GT already. 18,500.

At this point it's coming down to either a C6 LS3 corvette or the GT500. The price range and mileage is very similar for what you can get for 33-36,000.

I like Vettes but everybody knows what they are capable of. If I got a GT500 I would try to make it look like a GT minus the front end.

I think that's more fun. But that's me. I like sleepers.
