Default Anybody spray painted their tail lights?

Ok so used to come here a lot but i sold my stang for a truck to work on my farm...its an 08 tundra 4x4 with the 5.7l (almost as fast as my stang with 20's was at the strip), but nobody in my tundra forum knows anthing about this...now i used the spray tint on my stang and i wasnt too crazy about it, it didnt stick well and was a lot of money for a little can, and the gts covers for my truck are $115...now surely someone here would like to help a former mustang owner on this, i want the flat black look as i saw a truck the other day with it and it looked nice....so if anyone has spray painted their taillights black let me know what kind of paint and the process you used as well...thank you

do the same thing you did before but clean the lens well ( might suggest 2000 grit and alcohol ) then just spray " satin " clear and you have the flat black look.

Everything about this says "bad idea" to me... but yeah, I have to agree that cleaning the hell out of the lenses will make all the difference. Any residue on the surface will make the tint not stick and there's probably no way to touch it up since the opacity will be impossible to match.

if you've looked at the tundras taillights you'll see why its so hard just to tint them, but i still want the flat black look...thank you guys for all of your suggestions i knew i could count on you lol, so i should sand them down with 2000 grit, rub the hell out of them with alcohol (and im guessing not the miller in my hand), really light coats of the spray tint, then satin clear coat? how many coats of the clear coat?
